Looong time since my last post. Not gonna make any excuses, I’m fucking up. But next to fucking up, I’m still producing.
I’ve been working on this drum & bass track for weeks and weeks. It isn’t finished yet though. I came up with 5 versions and I’m still not entirely satisfied with what I got. It’s another jazzy/soulfull track with a lil personal twist. It’s the first time I used “Massive” to create synthesizers. Still the usage of synthesizers is something that’s new to me, so it took me some time to get some of the sounds I wanted. Nevertheless here’s a snippet (yeah I know 2 minutes is kinda too long for a snippet, but I don’t give a fuck).
Still experimenting with different genres. Last time I showed ya’ll the dnb track I made. Now it’s time for a lil…I actually have no idea what the genre is. Rylo-B (Dj/Co-founder, ChastFM) told me to consider it drumstep, but drumstep is way more hype if you ask me. I haven’t finished it yet but it’s nearing completion (fix the soundlevels, write some bars for this). Here’s a snippet:
I also recently downloaded an album named “The Great Escape” by an UK artist named “Buggsy”. You might have seen him in the Joker video for “Back In The Days”. I thought he was strictly into grime and dubstep untill I checked out the album. I’m really impressed by the way he combines: grime, hiphop and reggea into one album. Most tracks are laced with a rapid flow and lots of multi-syllable rhyming, which he does effortlessly. The beats are dope and I just love that UK accent. Here’s the video for one of my favourite Buggsy tracks (it starts at 1:20):
Married Children was one of those shows I always watched with my family at 6 o’ clock during dinner time. It wasn’t funny (well, maybe back then it was), it was merely something you just watched. Now-a-daze I find it hard not to switch channels when I come across the unluckiest man alive, it’s just too much sorrow to handle. Although I do find comfort in the thought that he’ll bang the busty Latin mom on Modern Family later in his life.
But this isn’t about Al or his agonizing life, it’s about his one and only son, Grandmaster B. What the fuck. Too many questions arose during watching the video. It’s so fucking 90′s. The way they composed the beat, the way they shot the video, his flow, the chorus. He made a decent 90′s track, I can’t believe it. I guess the most important question to ask is: where the fuck did he get all those black people from?
Going further on that Little Dragon tip, here’s their brand new video made by Yukimi’s Dad.
I thought that “Ritual Union” was a very sexy album, and this track is no exception. I love the way they arranged the kicks and overall, the vibe on this song is incredible. The video is pretty much a trip, just some goofed out hipster shit, tube sock rocking people will eat this up. But then again, so will you.
As I was randomly searching the internet for something interesting . I found a lil something on the OFWGKTA blog. It’s a remix of Little Dragon’s track “Seconds” by Syd the Kyd (Odd Future’s DJ). Now, I wouldn’t consider myself a Little Dragon fan, but ever since I heard them on “Gorillaz – Empire Ants” (not to mention the remixes 16bit did on his “Twice EP”) I can’t resist checking out a few songs every once in a while.
I really like the smoothness Syd added to original the track from the drums to the synths and the subtle bass, plus you can’t go wrong with Yukimi Nagano’s tantalizing voice. But I guess this is the point where I’ll just stop writing and let ya’ll get to listening:
Well, she sure suprised me with that track, then again I’m not a big Odd Future fan so who knows? Maybe she got a lot more of where that came from and I just don’t know about it.
So that was just a lil something I wanted to share with ya’ll,
First up, I’d like to apologize to ya’ll and my homie Korhymes, for another very late post (as usual). I guess my creativity level has been on a new kind of low for the past three months. I’ve been trying to make some new productions and wite some rhymes but I wasn’t really digging most of the stuff that came out. I did get a couple of beats done though, so I’m definitely to going to let ya’ll take a listen to that.
Next up, I got this beat I’m pretty proud of. I always got those days when I just can’t find a decent sample. So when I found the sample for this, I just knew I finally had a another dope beat:
Next to the usual hiphop, I also tend to experiment with different genres. For the last couple of years I’ve been listening to a lot of dubstep and drum and bass. Now I guess imma leave the dubstep production to my man High Society for a while, cause I tried and failed (a couple of times). But when I tried to make some drum and bass, I tried to combine my hiphop production skills with what I know of drum bass. Guess what? It actually kinda worked out! Check it out:
Next to that I’ve been busy with mcing for ChastFM. ChastFM is an underground dubstep radiostation based in Utrecht. The ChastFM crew consists of:

So this was SB letting ya’ll know what the fuck’s going on with me.
Fan-Tas-Tic vol.1/2. Players. Dilla fanboys swear by it, hiphop fans bop to it. This piece however, is not about the incredible way Dilla sampled “Claire” for Players (I couldn’t find the original track on youtube), but the haunting, possible truth to the famous Singers Unlimited track. I wonder if Jay was able to grasp these golden 5 seconds because of the heart wrenching attention he paid to the lyrics. Let’s take this step by step.
The Singers Unlimited, an accappella jazz quartet, is a group I’ve never really paid any attention to. Before Claire I was never interested enough to check out their stuff, and after I was way too creeped out to even try. So in this track, Uncle Ray sings about his love, Claire. Nothing iffy there. The creepiness level starts to arise around 0:47:
I don’t care what people say to me
You’re more than a child, oh Clair
So it’s a kid… Okay, it can happen. Probably a family member. Nothing like a lil’ family love. Moving on. 1:08.
But why in spite of our age difference
Do I cry each time I leave you
I feel I could die
Woah Uncle Ray, slow the fuck down.. You really seem to love this kid a lot. You seem to become one of those “age is just a number” type of people. Mellow out. Right after these phrases of hot melting love, he goes on like:
Nothing means more to me
Than hearing you say
“I’m going to marry you
Will you marry me, Uncle Ray?”
Oh Clair, Clair
Really, nothing? Nothing dear Uncle Ray? How about a grown fucking woman displaying her affection to you, how about yo’ mama, how about a fresh piece of adult pussy. Hearing your niece claiming her true goal in life is to marry her uncle means more to you than anything you can imagine? Now that’s just fucked up.
Now, this is already takiwashi enough. Uncle Ray seems to reaaalllyyy like Claire. I bet this sold well in the 70′s with all the crazy sexcapades going on. Incest and pedophilia, two markets laying open and wide for them. But then he just pops in these lines:
Capture my breath what there is left of it
You can be murdered at this hour of the day
But in the morning tonight this hour’ll seem a life time away
What the fuck? He just sneaks in the murder bit in like it’s all good. Uncle Ray.. What exactly are you planning to do with Claire?
I bet none of you will listen to Players the same again. Or maybe this won’t make a difference. I know it did not for me.
Let’s face it, we’re living in a time where cross-dressing, pokerfaced, alejandrolonging, fakebubblebutt takiwashihairhaving women are in control of the world. Okay, maybe not the word but the music business, and for me it’s close enough.
The amazing era in which talent formed the most important requirement for making it in the music biz has long surpassed us, it’s something I’ve accepted for quite a while now. It’s obvious that a group like the Beatles would’ve never made it in these days and would most likely still be asking you if you’d like to supersize that (or some hot-shot college job, Idunno, dudes are probably smart). The Mili-Vanilli era has been shoved down our throats like the long cock of justice and dares anyone to choke up some real talent and break through. Of course there are exceptions, but then again, there always are. And I mean, that’s cool, it’s all about the money, I get it. And I’m barely following any music trends so I shouldn’t really be bothered by it all (‘cept there’s little to none chance of me making any money out of this but hey, that’s what crack‘s for). But every now and then, something slips through my apathetic pop-music windshield that really bugs me. And it wasn’t even Lady Gaga (just a lil’), but all the fucking people copying her. Blatantly at that.
Pop music was never destined to be original. Find something that works, and then duplicate it a million times. But what’s going on in this acid colored musical landscape, is the fact that right now people are duplicating something that was meant to stay original and shocking. Thus copying pretentious knock-offs, and it’s getting worse. No scarcely dressed teenage girls hopping around in hot pants dominate my tv screen anymore, it’s fucking hairdo’s wilder than the nintendo kid getting an xbox 360 from his time traveling parents. When will it stop? Just look at the Nicki and Rihanna video. I know people are fuckin’ stupid but.. really?
I mean, really? This is getting out of hand. Do we need to get to the point where Jennifer Lopez tries to make another comeback by strapping 250 chicken wings to her suit, along with 10 adopted African starving kids having the time of their life? With the corpse of Michael Jackson as her hairdo? What I’m trying to say is, pop music icons should stop to pretend being original and shocking. Lady Gaga pulled it off, now everyone’s trying to hop on the bandwagon. The results are embarrassing, inevitably corny and just plain silly. It’s going too far. Stick to giving teenage boys more fap material ’cause on the real, I can’t fap to this.
The nights are getting stronger, and the days are getting longer.
The building’s getting bigger, outside is getting smaller.
The lies are getting truer, and the truth is getting brighter.
Things are looking blacker, but black is looking whiter.
The prices getting higher and the buyers is the flyest.
The stars are never brighter, the good are getting tired.
Yesterday you threw it, ’cause you gots to have the new shit.
And money always fools ya, so corny’s getting cooler.
Nothing’s gonna stop it, if it’s bound to turn a profit.
For this amount I’ll do it, for this I’ll let you watch it.
